Oops, another big break in the journal. Let me summarise a bit:
- Received a visit from my parents. They seemed pleased with the state of the flat and with the meal we cooked for them (maultaschen again). Got a bottle of wine from them, which we drunk at the flatwarming (see below).
- Had a water meter installed, in the hope of saving money on water bills. However, in the last 2 weeks we appear to have used...5.1 m3 of water, which seems like quite a lot. Must remember to check what the metered charges are.
- Went to see Rodelinda at the RFH with Nattie (where's that report, dear?). Enjoyed it greatly.
- Made and ate large quantities of creêpes on Shrove Tuesday (one Christian custom I'll happily go along with).
- Attended an a.f.p meet at The Green Man in London, with Nattie (for the first time) and various house-guests.
- Organised and held the long-awaited flatwarming on Sunday from 2 onwards. Spent the morning shopping and preparing things that should have been done earlier. Spent half the afternoon continuing to prepare things, oh, and cooking lunch at about 1:30, leaving about 10 minutes to eat it before the announced start time of the party. Was pleased to be able to bring together various different groups of people, including next-door neighbours who hadn't got together as a group in the several years they've lived here. Hopefully this will be the start of various neighbourly activity, or something.
- Went to the registry office this morning. Yes, we are allowed to get married, unless you object in the next 2 weeks.
*flies back to England*

Yeah, I looked into all that jazz when Angie was supposed to be marrying me in the UK... you don't even have to have a VISA to get married... Did you read your handbook? It's quite useful - there's a years countdown section. I skipped to two weeks when I got mine, I realised that I hadn't done a thing. Oh well. Didn't need a speech, tux, best man, dress, cake, church (or office), refreshments, flowers, maids of honour, brides maids, stag night, licence or anything in the end... LOL ;o)
I really hope I can be in the UK to go to it, if I'm invited... ;o) I'd truly love to see you get married.
Re: YAY!!!
Date: 2002-02-26 02:48 am (UTC)Handbook? Is that the one I was supposed to be issued with at birth explaining what to do in life, or something the registry office hands out? I don't have either.
Yes, of course you'll be invited. We just have to arrange the reception first.
Phew!
Date: 2002-02-27 10:24 am (UTC)Handbook for life? LOL - I'm working on writing it! But the regsitry office should have given you one. It has all the local venues for weddings, ads for receptions, tux hire, dress hire, caterers, flowers, etc etc... plus all the legal info and wedding planner timeline, like I mentioned. You may have to buy it - I think it was about £2.50 or something. Is yur bro going to be your best man, or is it undecided?
BTW, I wanted to ask you something (unrelated to weddings!) I want to find a good Amiga emu on the web, plus the book disk thing. Any ideas? (I want to track down the Nightbreed game and play it again...!)
