Your local quack medicine distributor

Today I received some spam. This is hardly surprising. What made this unusual was that it was sent through the Cambridge Network web site with real contact details. The spammer was soliciting down-level distributors for "Forever Living" aloe vera gel. I decided to write back; follow the link to see our correspondence.

Not yet. Will probably phone up in the morning as they only have a single advertised email address and I want to be sure to contact the right person.

The ASA take a very dim view of quacks, and the burden of proof is with the advertiser (as opposed to Trading Standards, where it's with the complainant).

My housemates parents are into this scheme. They seem to believe in it, and the 'magical aloe vera'. From what I can gather, their main customers are themselves - they drink strange concoctions every day, and our bathroom has several aloe products.

Then again, this housemate forwarded me the 'send this to 10 people and get a new mobile!!!!111' email, with a note 'well, I need a new phone what harm can it do'.

I think I see a family trend...

did anything ever come of this? I have been emailed by them and have been trying to find out if they are dodgy!

I'm afraid I haven't heard anything back from MHRA, which is a bit disappointing.
