Being less down than I have been lately, I have put a lot of effort into the election campaign in the past week. I've delivered about 900 newspapers and hundreds of targetted letters, stuffed about a thousand letters, routed probably several thousand of them, tidied and washed up, and loaned another laser printer to use tomorrow.

Tomorrow is likely to be a long day. I may or may not be able to get up early to deliver "Good Morning" reminders to electors, but in any case I expect to be working from about 8am to 10pm on some mixture of Good Mornings, telling and knocking-up. Then there will be the count. I need to be there at the start to witness the ballot boxes being opened and the votes separated into county and parliamentary elections. The parliamentary count comes first and I don't know whether I will be permitted to stay for that. I would expect that to go on until 2 or 3 in the morning provided there's no need for a recount. Otherwise there is sure to be an election party elsewhere. But on Friday morning I need to be up early to witness the county count from something like 8 till 11 or 12!
