Home improvement
Jun. 24th, 2004 03:08 amWe've been very unhappy with the windows in our flat, which didn't fit their frames very well (probably due to slight shifting of the building) and consequently couldn't all be opened or locked closed. The fridge was also somewhat broken and missing some of the internal containers. Shortly after moving in we asked the landlord to replace them and eventually extracted an agreement to do so in return for a further 6-month fixed tenancy. We received the new fridge some months back, but didn't hear much about the windows.
Eventually the agency arranged for several companies to survey the place and quote prices, and finally they made a decision. So on Monday and Tuesday a couple of men came round and broke up the old frames and put new ones in. They're double-glazed, they fit and we can lock them. We can also open small vents above the window panes.
