My old housemate Chris and his boyfriend Mark held their annual summer barbecue on Saturday. It rained, but that didn't matter too much as they had a marquee.
In addition to plentiful food and drink, there was live music from a band called Stryngs. Bizarrely, the lead singer of the band (Sarah Stringer aka Strings) claimed to recognise me, and it turned out we had been to the same middle school. I had to admit I didn't know her, but she was pleased to meet me anyway. (Back at school I got to be quite well-known for being clever (which I stopped doing a while back) which means there are a lot of people that recognise me but who I know little or nothing of. Speaking of which, a Craig Bickley came up to me at the Beer Festival and said he knew me from secondary school. He's now the Bar Manager at The Free Press, a reputedly good pub in Cambridge which I've never got round to going to.)
Anyway, it was a good chance to catch up with Chris and various other ex-housemates who I see far too rarely.
tea_cantata (as she requests I refer to her now) and I stayed around well into the morning talking and joking around with Chris and Mark. We eventually headed home around 5, almost but not quite too tired to cycle.
