Happy Bloomsday

Apparently it's 100 years since the day in which Joyce's Ulysses was set (Bloomsday). The BBC has a cheat's guide to the book. Dare I try to read the real thing?

Will it take longer than the Herodotus? It hasn't got any Lesbians in, you know.

Now, now! I actually got through Ulysses, which is better than I can say for poor Herodotus. But Finnegan's Wake is more fun-- it's like a 1200 page acid trip. Not that I would know about acid trips.

I think this is when we think of St. Jude of fond memory, who told me when I met her, "You can tell me - I've done acid." I really wish I'd got to know her better.
