bwhMet chief in phone recording row, apparently because he's out of favour with the government and they don't want him to have any evidence that might embarass them. As the article says, it's legal to record your phone conversations for personal use. I don't know what Shami Chakrabarti's on about; maybe she didn't understand the story.
