My birthday was rather fun. Due to a late correction to the film time, only [livejournal.com profile] tea_cantata, [livejournal.com profile] robster_rss, [livejournal.com profile] dgh and [livejournal.com profile] pseudomonas were able to join me for that, although [livejournal.com profile] dgh bumped into a friend who bought one of my excess tickets and sat with us. Match Point is quite different from what we have to come to expect from Woody Allen - occasionally humorous but mostly rather dark and disturbing. Overall a good film.

After that, we met [livejournal.com profile] ext_2858, [livejournal.com profile] nunfetishist, Vivek and [livejournal.com profile] robot101 at Dojo noodle bar, and were shortly joined by Rob Taylor and Lisa, making a dinner party of 11. We didn't have to wait for too long to get a couple of tables and I think everyone enjoyed their meals and the constant supply of green tea. It was something of a shame not to be able to talk to those on the other table though.

After dinner, Vivek, [livejournal.com profile] robot101 and Rob Taylor had to be elsewhere but the rest of us went to the Carlton Arms where we met [livejournal.com profile] gerald_duck. We had a couple of rounds of drinks, a few deserts, and some mostly rather silly conversation. [livejournal.com profile] ext_2858 shared the last of his amazingly good Christmas cake. [livejournal.com profile] dgh fell asleep. A little after 10 we departed toward my and [livejournal.com profile] tea_cantata's home in several vehicles, dropping [livejournal.com profile] dgh and Lisa off on the way, and meeting and redirecting Wookey on the way out.

At home, which was hideously untidy (and for that I apologise), we had tea and some excellent marzipan - previously prepared by [livejournal.com profile] ext_2858 and [livejournal.com profile] tea_cantata and now rolled out by the former - and played several rounds of Flummoxed. And then it was time to disperse.

ETA: Commiserations to [livejournal.com profile] zzumbouk and [livejournal.com profile] sunflowerinrain who weren't well enough to make it.

I booked flights for this year's DebConf in Mexico. I'm taking 2 weeks and 2 days off to allow me to go to the whole conference plus the preceding DebCamp and/or some tourism. I've also arranged to drive via ferry to FOSDEM in Brussels at the end of February, which should be fun and a good opportunity to stock up on fine Belgian beer.

I submitted packages of Maypole and several other Perl modules for sponsorship into Debian. They're now waiting in the NEW queue for approval, which should hopefully happen some time this week. If that all goes OK, I should be able to get the very cool Memories application into Debian fairly soon.

Meanwhile my sponsor, [livejournal.com profile] maulkin_rss, arranged to be the Application Manager for my application for membership of the Debian project. I've now answered his first two sets of questions, which hopefully puts me well on the way there.
