Work, work, work
Oct. 1st, 2002 11:26 pmOops. I think I should have written something for September. Well, here goes with an entry for October.
Well, I got the job in London, at Symbian. Unfortunately I only have a temporary contract due to their self-imposed limitation on permanent employee numbers, and I've had to sod about with setting up a limited company and submitting 3 sets of timesheets (to client, agency and accountants). Maybe it's good, though, as travelling to London every day is a bit exhausting and I don't think I could face it in the long term. The journey takes about 2 hours each way; more if the Tube drivers take a day off. It does allow for a good bit of reading each day, though, and I can nap if necessary.
The project I was initially set to work on 3 weeks ago is being moved to the Cambridge office, but apparently I can't go with it. So I have something else to work on now. I'm supposed to be making some improvements to internal testing. The broader picture of development is supposed to be all secret, but I'm sure someone will leak information to The Register eventually.
In other news, we had a honeymoon in Jersey.
Oh, and we have a printer now - an old HP LaserJet. Hope I can figure out how to configure printing under Linux some time soon.
