I'm sitting in the "study", counting the minutes until I can phone Nattie. Around me is a whole lot of clutter that I ought to deal with - boxes and books that should be filed on shelves or in cabinets, computer parts that should be put together or filed away, and photos that should be scanned and placed in albums. I'm not likely to sort this out any time soon. However, I have written a script for the Gimp to take some of the drudgery out of scanning photos - it saves one high-quality copy to keep locally, one lower-quality copy for the web, and a reduced thumb-nail for an index page on the web. This should save me, ooh, a couple of minutes for every photo I scan. I'm not sure how many hours it took to write...
